The cutting machine and the spreader work side by side in the cutting room and, at first glance, they may seem to belong to the same world.
In reality, they are two very different universes, governed by almost opposite operating logics.
In automatic cutting, the operator has a relatively low level of interaction with the machine.
They select the parameters they consider appropriate — often supported by a set of predefined settings — start the cycle, and the machine performs the work almost entirely on its own.
The goal of automatic cutting is clear:
to achieve a repeatable, precise and consistent result, with minimal human intervention during execution.
Interaction is concentrated at the beginning; once the process starts, it is expected to run autonomously.
The world of spreading is completely different.
Here, the operator does not simply set parameters and start a cycle.
Instead, they interact with the machine continuously, almost like in a video game.
During spreading, the operator must:

A spreading machine requires less geometric precision than a cutting machine, but demands much greater human–machine interaction.
Every fabric behaves differently.
Every operator works differently.
And the final result depends on the balance between these two factors.
It is no coincidence that, when looking at the market, the spreading world is full of variations:
every spreader is different, each one approaches the problem in its own way, because it must adapt to constantly changing conditions.
When we step into the world of spreading, it becomes essential to focus on human–machine interaction more than on any other component of the cutting room.
And perhaps the best way to summarise this difference is this:
Cutting machines are all the same — each in its own way.
Spreading machines, on the other hand, are all truly different from one another.
